East Coast Road Trip!

Here are some pictures from the Road Trip Becky and I took when I visited her in Philadelphia this fall. She is going to school at Philadelphia Biblical University, and over her fall break (for her birthday) we took a trip to Boston. Everything on the East Coast is so close together. We went through 5 states in one day! We started just outside of Philadelphia, drove through New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and into Massachusetts.

This was our first unplanned stop, we saw a sign on the freeway that said Yale University, when we were driving through New Haven, and knew we had to go.

The campus was so gorgeous. The leaves were just starting to turn, and it was amazing walking around the beautiful old buildings.

Of Course I had to take this picture :)

We got into Boston, and right away started sightseeing. This is the building where the Declaration of Independence was first read to Bostonians. I love American History, it was incredible to be standing where things really happened.

Here is a pic of some Revolutionary War re-enactors. This was in the courtyard of Paul Revere's House. We took these for you Dad :)

This was Paul Revere's actual house. We got to walk through.

This is Becky on the deck of the U.S.S. Constitution, or "Old Ironsides" as it has been nicknamed. It is the only battleship that lasted through a bunch of wars. I can't really remember the details, but it was fun.

Here is me getting shot out of a cannon :)

Here is Becky making me laugh.

After all that we walked to Boston's Little Italy. It was one of my favorite parts of the city. There were cute resturants everywhere, and we decided we needed a snack from a bakery. Becky ordered "Boston Creme Pie" and apparently, when your in Boston, it's not called "Boston Creme Pie."

I got a canoli, which I've always wanted to try.

We went to Fenway park, and it happened to be in the middle of the World Series! It was so crowded, but fun. We had dinner and saw a movie.

This is the next day, at Harvard University. Here we are touching to toe of John Harvard, the founder. Apparently it is a tradition to touch the toe when you pass the statute. Another tradition is for rival schools in the area like MIT to pee on it. Needless to say we touched John Harvard's toe, regardless of the stink of urine.

This is a pretty street in Boston. I love old architecture.

On the drive home, we decided to have dinner in New York City. It was so fun! I love New York. We parked at the first spot we found, and walked over to Time Square to find a restaurant. This is Grand Central station and the Chrysler Building in the background.

Ironically enough, Becky and I had dinner at ESPN Zone, Ryan was totally jealous.

Here is us at Rockafeller Center. This was a self photo, impressive huh!

Here we are back in Philadelphia, having the quintessential lunch, a cheesesteak.

I love my sister! She makes me laugh.

So jealous! What a fun trip! I need to go back east. I've never been to Boston and would LOVE to go. I did get to go to a lot of places last time I was there though... but that was when I was 17! How neat to be around so much history... we don't really have much history over here on the West Coast... unless you want to call Starbucks and Hollywood history... hmmmm.
